An unprecedented era of MMA has descended upon us: 6/10 current belt holders (including the interim and BMF) are 35+ years of age. Just over a year ago I wrote about how Volkanovski was able to break the 35 curse, where only 1 man below 185 pounds had ever won a championship bout above the age of 35. In that same cohort today, Lightweight and Featherweight have 37 year old champions, and Islam Makhachev at Welterweight is not far behind at 34.
